Writing Rules for Article Submission

The full papers presented at the symposium must adhere to the following guidelines. For references and citations, APA 7 standards will be applied.

ABSTRACT WRITING GUIDE

1. GENERAL WRITING RULES

  • Length: Abstracts should be between 150-300 words. For English abstracts, the word count should be between 150 and 400 words.
  • Font and Size: Times New Roman, 11 pt.
  • Paragraphs: Should be written as a single block paragraph.
  • Mandatory English Abstract: Every paper must include an abstract in English.
  • Submission: Abstracts must be submitted via the form on our website. Submissions via email will not be accepted.

2. CONTENT

  • Objective: Clearly state the main purpose of the research.
  • Method: Specify the primary methods used in the study.
  • Findings: Summarize the key findings.
  • Conclusion: State the main conclusion or contribution of the research.

3. TITLES AND KEYWORDS

  • Title: The abstract title should not exceed 12 words and must be clear and descriptive.
  • Keywords: Provide 3-5 keywords that best represent the abstract.
  • Formatting: Keywords should be listed in alphabetical order. Only the first keyword should start with a capital letter; the others should be in lowercase.

4. IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Clarity: The abstract should be written in a coherent and logical order.
  • Language & Style: Academic and formal language should be used. Avoid spelling and grammatical errors.
  • Conciseness: Avoid unnecessary details. Keep the abstract clear, precise, and to the point.

FULL PAPER WRITING RULES

1. GENERAL WRITING RULES

  • Margins: 2 cm on all sides.
  • Page Size: Statement (13.97 cm x 21.59 cm).
  • Font and Size: Times New Roman, 11 pt.
  • Line Spacing: 1.15 line spacing.
  • Paragraphs: No indentations; leave a blank line between paragraphs.

Headings

  • Main headings: Bold, left-aligned, and written in uppercase.
  • Subheadings: Bold, left-aligned, with only the first letter capitalized.
  • No numbering for headings.

Page Numbers

  • No page numbers should be included.

Language & Writing Style

  • Use academic language.
  • Pay attention to punctuation and spelling rules.

2. IN-TEXT CITATION RULES (APA 7)

  • Single Author: (Yılmaz, 2020, p. 25)
  • Two Authors: (Demir & Kaya, 2019, pp. 105-107)
  • Three or More Authors: (Arslan et al., 2018, p. 64)
  • Direct Quotes (Under 40 words): Use quotation marks within the text.
  • Direct Quotes (Over 40 words): Format as a block quote, indented as a separate paragraph without quotation marks.
  • Secondary Sources: (as cited in Gül, 2021, pp. 1-5)

3. REFERENCES FORMAT

References Heading

  • The title “References” should be bold and centered on the page.

General Format

  • Author’s Last Name, Initials. (Year). Title. Publisher. DOI (if available).

Examples

  • Book: Erdem, H. (2015). Modern scientific research techniques. Academic Publications.
  • Journal Article: Yılmaz, Ş., & Kaya, A. (2020). Innovative approaches in social sciences. Journal of Scientific Research, 45(2), 123-145. https://doi.org/10.12345/bad.2020.45
  • Website: Turkish Statistical Institute. (2021). Annual population growth rates. https://www.tuik.gov.tr

4. TABLE & FIGURE GUIDELINES

  • Numbering: Tables and figures must be numbered (e.g., Table 1, Figure 2) and titled clearly. Titles should be centered and in 10 pt font.
  • Example: Table 1: Map of Turkey (Sancar, 2010)
  • Explanations: Brief descriptions can be added below tables or figures.
  • Source Indication: If a table or figure is taken from a source, it must be cited below.

5. SUBMISSION FORMAT & RULES

  • File Format: Microsoft Word (.docx).
  • File Name: AuthorName_Surname_Symposium2025.docx.
  • Deadline: Papers must be submitted by the announced deadline.
  • Email Subject: “Symposium Paper Submission: [Author’s Last Name]”
  • Full papers should be submitted via email to: ensar.kilic@sbu.edu.tr

6. ETHICAL GUIDELINES

  • Originality: All papers must be original and unpublished.
  • Plagiarism: Any form of plagiarism is strictly prohibited. Proper citations must be provided.
  • Ethics Approval: If the research requires ethics committee approval, the relevant document must be submitted.
